A New Day with Janie
T.
(#06)
Panic
In The Night
Many
years ago my youngest son suffered terribly from Asthma and still does
to this day. That meant countless, long, frightening nights, and many
trips to the hospital emergency room.
I never knew when I picked my son up and headed out for the
hospital if I would return home with him. It was high trauma the
entire time. It was a most severe case of Asthma and other lung
disorder.
How
can a mom forget that dreadful night at Saint Luke’s Hospital in
Boise Idaho, when the Doctor steps into the room, pulls you aside and
informs you that he doesn’t think your son will make the night.
Night after night lying beneath an oxygen tent, blue in color, my son
lay close to death.
What
can you do when your child is lingering between life and death? Only
prayer can soothe the “panic in the night.” My mind would return
back to every scripture that I had ever known about the healing touch
of Jesus. Over and over I mulled those scriptures and at the same time
gave the Lord the freedom to take my son to heaven to be with HIM
forever if that was HIS will.
I
had seen this precious young life suffer so needlessly for so long
that each trip to the hospital seemingly became next to unbearable. It
was the depth of my being crying out “God please do something” for
my son.” It didn’t seem to me that God heard a word I was saying.
But this one thing I knew, when you have done all you know what to do,
just stand firm and fixed on God’s Word. It is the only thing that
can bring lasting hope.
Ephesians
chapter 6 (TLB) was a
great encouragement in those days of mental anguish. Verse 13 and 17
spoke to my heart. So use every piece of God’s armor to resist the
enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be
standing up. You will need the helmet of salvation and the sword of
the Spirit, __ which is the Word of God.
The
twenty-third Psalms was another that helped me walk through the dark
valley (shadow) of death.
If
you are walking in this valley today with one of your loved ones be
encouraged in God’s Word. He will be your constant helper through
what you are going through today. Isaiah 41:10, Fear not, for I am
with you. Do not be dismayed. I am your God. I will strengthen you; I
will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
My
prayers are with every person that is experiencing “panic in the
night.”
Jesus
loves you,
Janie
