A New Day with Janie T.
(#05)
Set
A Guard, O Lord, Before My Mouth…
Have
you ever just wished that you would have duck taped your mouth shut
before you got out of bed? I have__ on more than one account, wished I
hadn’t said what I just did or perhaps listened with a more attentive
ear and gave thought to my words before “spieling off” or after
thinking about the situation realizing that I too was at some fault for
the confusion.
Then
when reality strikes, it strikes hard. Oh No__ I have to repent and
apologize for opening my big mouth again or (mishandling the
situation)__ that sounds better. I have to apologize for whatever part
of this mess is my fault. Frustration
sets in like a black cloud hanging over your head. Pride says, “I
don’t owe no one an apology.” Proverbs
16:2 TLB states “We can always “prove” that we are right, but is
the Lord convinced?”
This
is why I find that seeking the Lord early in the morning before my feet
ever hit the floor pays off in large dividends. Giving thanks to the
Lord early sets the tone for the entire day. Following that time of
thanksgiving comes the heartfelt pray of this mom’s heart. “Praying
scripture.”
Psalms
141:3 is one of my most often prayed prayers, “ Set a guard, O Lord,
before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.”
Another prayer is, “O Lord, please help me to keep my mouth
shut and speak only when you give me something worth saying. Let Psalms
19:14 come alive in me. “Let the words of my mouth and the mediation
of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable]
Rock and my Redeemer.” Amp. Bible.
Taking
the simple advice that the Lord taught me so long ago has saved
buying a lot of duck tape and spared many times of embarrassment.
Consider the words that were penned so long ago by a most famous
“David.” He said that …there is not a word in my tongue [still
unuttered], but, behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. A quick apology
will spare many hurt feelings and offenses.
Be
encouraged. Don’t allow frustration to turn into disappointment,
because if unchecked it may perhaps turn into disillusionment. Meditate
on the positive Word of God. It is a sure way to bring us into line with
the great plan He has for our life. 1 Corinthians 14:33 “For He is not
a God of confusion and disorder but of peace and order…”
Peace
and order be with you in Jesus name,
Janie
