A New Day with Janie

Words__Words__Words
Words
are so powerful. They can build up, build confidence, bring new life,
encourage, tear down, tear apart, destroy, and even kill. Positive words can
bring healing to a hurting heart, restore broken relationships and bring
courage to do something you thought impossible.
Words
of true forgiveness can bring about physical healing to the body, emotional
healing to the soul, and spiritual healing to the heart. Words of comfort will
heal a painful loss.
True forgiveness equates healing, peace of mind, and
rest.
There
is power in our tongue. The scripture tells us that our words pack a heavy
weight. We must take God’s Word serious. Proverbs and Matthews give us some
insight into the end results of our words. Consider these following
scriptures:
Death
and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat
the fruit of it [for death or life. Proverbs
18:21
But
I tell you, on the day of judgment men will have to give account for every
idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak. Matthew
12:36
For
by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will
be condemned and sentenced. Matthew
12:37
After
reading those scriptures above we must consider taking inventory of the words
that are coming out of our mouth. Are we speaking life to a situation or the
people whom we converse with or are we speaking death? Are our words caustic?
Do they burn, hurt, and destroy confidence in which they fall upon? Or do
our words soothe, comfort, alleviate pain, give life and encouragement to all
who come into our presence?
“A
gentle tongue [with its healing power] is a tree of life, but willful
contrariness in it breaks down the spirit.” Proverbs 15:4 Amp.
Bible
The words of a [discreet and wise] man's
mouth are like deep waters [plenteous and difficult to fathom], and the
fountain of skilful and godly Wisdom is like a gushing stream [sparkling,
fresh, pure, and life-giving]. Proverbs 18:4 Amp. Bible
A
word fitly spoken and in due season is like apples of gold in settings of
silver. Proverbs
25:11
If
you are hurting today because someone was careless with words, forgive them
and say a quick prayer for them. It is well to remember, “Hurting people
hurt other people.” And if you hurt someone with your words, be quick to
apologize and receive God’s wonderful peace. I have found that God’s
way is the only way.
Have
a wonderful and peace filled day!
