"...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty..."
2 Corinthians 3:17

This ode was written maybe twenty-five or thirty years ago. A young man that I knew had a farm accident. He was on top of a high granary when a gust of wind blew him off. Paralyzed from chest down. Has use of arms but nothing else. His wife was pregnant with their fifth child. All of the children under school age. It was a devastating nightmare for all of them.

Some time after all of this, I had a talk with this precious, little, and overwhelmed mother. She didn’t know about the goodness of the Lord at that time. After sharing my heart with her and the great love of Jesus with her, much time passed. Then later I took a heart piercing conversation that she shared with me and gave her this message from the Lord.

Yesterday

Yesterday has come and gone __ my
Heartaches, my tears have almost disappeared
Because of Yesterday__ Lord,
I can see your blessings coming my way.

Yesterday __ yesterday my life was
In such turmoil __ I could not see the
Break of Day for bitter remorse
Of Yesterday’s pain.

Thank you Lord, Yesterday is gone __
The anguish, the weeping is all but over.
Light is appearing,
I can see the disclosing of dawn.

Morning is rapturously emerging__
A new day is about to begin.
Burdens of the past are growing dim
The evidence of day is fading out yesterday.

I can see clearly now
 The clouds are nearly gone.
My soul is a flame from the
Illumination of your throne.

Weights have been lifted
From my breast __ I feel fresh, vibrant life,
Now beginning to ebb its way back
Through scarred veins.

The roses are blooming once again,
Their opulent splendor is returning,
Their exquisite Fragrance
Fills the air with a Promise of continuity.

The ugliness attached to a leaf, has
Been magnificently transformed into a new creation.
The brilliant, chromatic-winged butterfly ascends
Like Yesterday gives way to a bright sun-shiny day.

Yesterday’s pain is today’s gain
Yesterday’s confusion is now today’s peace
Everlasting Peace that can only come from
JESUS our Lord.

“I am leaving you with a gift __ peace of mind and heart!
And the Peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives.
So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27 TLB

Yesterday is gone __ Welcome to a brand new day!

Note: This beautiful wife and mother saw to it that all their children had college educations. She is a very successful businesswoman today with several Boutiques to her credit and gives God the glory for it.
